I am so excited to be part of Brookland Yoga and look forward to practicing with you! A little about me - I first tried yoga as a teenager in my home town of Sydney, Australia, but it didn't stick until I reached my twenties. As a complement to my regular gym routine, I signed up for a series of hatha yoga classes, and discovered very quickly the positive changes in my body - greater strength and improved flexibility.
Since moving to Washington, D.C., I've had the opportunity to explore and deepen my relationship with yoga. My practice continues to challenge me every day, and the greatest benefits I have found have been non-physical. To me, yoga is so much more than moving from pose to pose. Having a steady practice of yoga has allowed me to cultivate more joy, patience and acceptance off the mat. The community I have connected with and the friends I have made through yoga have been just as important to my journey.
My style of practice is vinyasa flow, and I love incorporating dynamic movements into my sequences. I completed my yoga teacher training at Tranquil Space in the fall of 2015 and, in addition to being a teaching assistant at Tranquil Space, I teach a weekly yoga class to the staff at Whitman Walker Health. I am grateful to my teachers, my peers and my students for all I have learned and continue to learn.
